Internationally renowned Reggae producer, Philip 'Fattis' Burrell has died.
The long-time CEO of Xterminator Records suffered complications from a
stroke that occurred two weeks ago; slipping into a coma on Saturday
morning before succumbing to the complications Saturday evening. Burrell
spent the last two weeks at the University Hospital of the West Indies
(UHWI) receiving treatment for his stroke.
Burrell’s condition deteriorated on Tuesday when doctors discovered a blood clot close to his lungs.
Family members of Burrell expressed their gratitude towards friends,
fans, industry players and hospital staff who supported and cared for
the producer during his ordeal; asking the public for prayers during
their time of grief.
Burrell played an integral part in launching the careers of many
Reggae superstars including Luciano, Pinchers and Sanchez as well as
Sizzla, who he managed in recent years. Additionally, Burrell worked
with other internationally-acclaimed Reggae acts such as Beres Hammond,
Capleton, Gregory Isaacs, Cocoa Tea and Gentleman, amongst several
others.
