Lady Saw To Unveil New Album & Screenplay

Female Dancehall deejay, Lady Saw will unleash more of her off-stage persona through her on-stage works with her upcoming project.

The Dancehall Diva, whose real name is Marion Hall, will unveil her ninth studio album, Lady Saw Presents: Marion Hall via her Divas Recordings label later this year. The new album will feature several genres, including country and jazz music as Lady Saw looks to offer a more personal, sensitive part of her contrary to her raunchy, no-holds-barred on stage personality.

“I'm very excited about this project as this will be a beautiful album. My fans will see both sides of me," she said in statement to the media.

Lady Saw insists that her new album will showcase her personal and musical maturity, partly exhibited in her recent collaboration with Reggae superstar, Beres Hammond entitled, She Has Changed.

"I am grown and it is seen especially in the collaboration with Beres Hammond, entitled She Has Changed. This single tells the story of a young lady who has suffered abuse in her childhood, which leads to her being a confused adult who makes the wrong choices in life," she explained.

Lady Saw Presents: Marion Hall will feature Hammond as well as former UB40 singer, Ali Campbell.
In addition to her upcoming compilation, Lady Saw will release an autobiographical screenplay; detailing her early life and struggles prior to becoming the “Queen of Dancehall.”

“It will feature a young girl depicting my life in the country... from climbing trees to selling brooms in the craft market," she said.
"My mother and I suffered physical abuse at the hands of my father. It got so bad that my mom had to run away with us to Kingston," she recalled."It was terrible and all of this will be played out on camera."
So far in 2012, Lady Saw released the single, Yuh Man Mi a Look on the Chune Riddim while shooting a video for her single, Love Sick on the Overproof Riddim.
