Vybz Kartel Gets Bail On Ganja Charge, But Remains In Custody

Controversial Dancehall superstar, Adidja Palmer aka Vybz Kartel can breathe a little easier after he was granted bail in his drug trial.

The prominent deejay copped JA$40,000 bail, with one or two sureties, regarding a ganja possession charge during an appearance at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon. The charge stems from his September 29 arrest at a New Kingston hotel when he was allegedly caught with a small quantity of marijuana. However, Kartel cannot post bail in the matter, given that he currently faces a slew of charges in the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder trial.

Kartel was previously granted JA$3 million bail in his other murder case, where he stands accused of killing businessman/promoter, Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton in St. Catherine last summer. The Portmore Empire leader faces charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in that matter.

Vybz Kartel’s drug trial will continue on March 14 while the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder trial will re-convene on May 8. The self-proclaimed “Worl’ Boss” faces a murder charge as well as two obstruction of justice related charges in the Williams case.
