The Dancehall fraternity once again mourns the death of a relative
for a prominent Dancehall artiste as the father of iconic deejay, Beenie Man has passed away.
Beenie’s dad, more affectionately known as Bragga, died on Wednesday night at the University Hospital of the West Indies
in Kingston while receiving treatment for an undisclosed health
complaint. Reportedly, the news came as a complete shock to Beenie Man
as well as his long-time manager and brother, Rohan ‘Blue’ Smith and are
said to be very sad as they cope with their loss.
Beenie Man’s ex-wife, D’Angel visited the hospital and offered her condolences upon hearing the news. According to the singjay, Bragga was a very fun person to hang around.
"Moses Dad is somebody that I have met. He is a jovial and fun
person. Condolence goes out to the family and we definitely lost a man
that produced a legend. Moses just be strong and hold up your head. When
I heard I went straight to the hospital to give my support because he
is my child's grandfather and the father of my son's father," D’Angel said.
When the news broke on Wednesday night, several Jamaican music personalities have offered their condolences, most notably, Bounty Killer, who had lost his mother, Ivy 'Miss Ivy' Williams to illness in February and was supported by Beenie Man at a nine night in her honor.
Bounty Killer tweeted, “Not so sure about this just got it ppl, Beenie Man father just died at University Hospital. Condolence goes out."
