Mavado Returns To Rebel Salute After 2 Year Absence

Dancehall artiste Mavado will make a live appearance at the 2016 staging of Rebel Salute, after a two year hiatus from the Jamaican stage. The annual two day festival which is being staged at the Grizzly's Plantation Cove in St. Ann on January 15 and 16 2016, will present David Brooks, the other side of the hardcore dancehaller.

Rebel Salute is well known for presenting a more palatable side of dancehall acts, Bounty Killer as Rodney Pryce, Beenie Man as Moses Davis or Ras Moses and recent Christian convert Lady Saw as Marion Hall among several others.

News of Mavado’s upcoming appearance at Rebel Salute was revealed by event principal Tony Rebel at the events’ Media Launch on Thursday afternoon at the Newly opened Courtyard Marriott in New Kingston.

Mavado’s last major performance on the island was at the 2013 staging of what is dubbed the greatest one night Reggae show on earth Sting.  News of Mavado’s coming puts to rest rumors that the artiste isn’t able to leave the United States where he currently resides.

Meanwhile, after a relatively subdued 2015, Mavado is preparing for a major comeback in 2016. My League, produced by Good Good Productions, was arguably Mavado’s only hit for 2015, a year when he kept a low profile.
