Peter Tosh's Son Found With 65 Pounds of Ganja, Heads To Court In May



Jawara McIntosh better known as Tosh 1, the song of Reggae royalty Peter Tosh will have to wait a a few more weeks to get his day in court.

The entertainer who was expected to return to court on Tuesday, April 28th to answer to charges of marijuana possession after being found with 65 ½ pounds of ganja will be brought before the court on May 16.

In June, police in Mahwah, New Jersey pulled over McIntosh's 2013 Nissan Maxima for "recklessly cutting off other motorists on Route 17."

They said he did not have a drivers license, had open bottles of alcohol on the front seat and that two pieces of luggage containing over 65 pounds of ganja was found in the trunk. New Jersey police report that Mcintosh and his passenger, 23-year-old Carlotta Z Leslie, also of Dorchester, "denied any knowledge that the marijuana was in the vehicle."

Both were arrested on charges of marijuana possession with the intent to distribute the drug. McIntosh also was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of drugs, driving with a suspended license, improper passing and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

Tosh 1 subsequently spent six months in jail and was released on 70,000 US Dollars bail which was reduced from $250,000 dollars following a petition.
