Major Setback For Vybz Kartel Murder Trial Appeal, Attorneys Respond [WATCH VIDEO]

According to information reaching the offices of 876ENT it's understood that a Supreme Court reporter migrating has reportedly stalled the appeal process for incarcerated dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel.

Despite being incarcerated since September 2011, the controversial entertainer whose given name is Adidja Palmer was convicted almost two years now for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in Havendale, St Andrew.

Though his attorneys filed a notice of intention to appeal shortly after the conviction, the process has been significantly hampered.

On radio earlier this week, Kartel’s lead attorney, Tom Tavares Finson, indicated that the transcript of the trial is incomplete, and without the transcript, the appeal process cannot begin.

Tavares Finson said a small portion of the very lengthy transcript is still to be done, although it was estimated that the document would have been ready from about July of this year.

The attorney said he has written to Chief Justice, Zaila McCalla, on the matter, and is hoping to have some good words from the stenographers’ department within the Supreme Court early in the New Year.
