Jimmy Cliff Album Makes Rolling Stone Top 50 List

Reggae legend, Jimmy Cliff continues to garner strong acclaim for his latest project as it has earned a spot in Rolling Stone magazine’s Top 50 albums list for 2012.

Rebirth, the recently Grammy-nominated album by Cliff, copped the number 12th slot on Rolling Stone’s list. Said list included projects such as Good Kid, M.A.A.D City by Kendrick Lamar, Life Is Good by Nas and Wrecking Ball by Bruce Springsteen, which emerged as the magazine top-rated album.

Rebirth is also number 48 on the top 50 albums list issued by ABC News. The American media entity gave the album high praise, hailing songs like Children’s Bread, Outsider and Guns of Brixton as its best compositions.

Jimmy Cliff’s new compilation was produced by Tim Armstrong and is a nominee the Best Reggae Album award at next year’s Grammys in Los Angeles. Rebirth faces competition from Tomahawk Technique (Sean Paul), Reggae Got Soul: Unplugged on Strawberry Hill (Toots and the Maytals), New Legend – Jamaica 50th edition (Sly and Robbie and The Jam Masters) as well as Miracle (The Original Wailers).

To date, Rebirth has sold over 33,000 copies in the United States, according to album sales tracker, SoundScan.
